Being a Wife :)

Today is mine and Eric's 2 year anniversary! 4-26-08. The time is flying by so far. We just adore each other and love being married. We are continuously joking and laughing with one another about anything and everything! Some might think we are too silly sometimes, but like Eric says, it is how we flirt with each other :) Being a wife is so much fun for me. I love the little and big responsibilities that I have: Grocery shopping, balancing the checkbook, organizing our finances, walking JoJo, making dinner, etc. I am so LUCKY to have a husband that adores cleaning on a weekly and sometimes bi-weekly basis! I will do the grocery shopping anytime if I do not have to pick up the 409 or vacuum the carpets!

I have always been a motherly person ever since Em was born when I was 9. I love the feeling of "Taking Care" of others, which is why I probably chose the career of teaching and also why I have a love for the elderly. Kiddos and grandparents hold a crazy special place in my heart. I CANNOT wait to become a mother. This is part of my encouraging patience deal. I am so ready to have a baby of my own. JoJo is a great fix for now, but I cannot even imagine how it feels to hold something that you know u and your husband created. It has got to be amazing. People ask me all the time when I will have a baby on the way. I guess people expect a baby after a couple of years of marriage. That is typically the next step. Eric and I are ready for that step come this fall we hope. But as for now, I have to be patient for my time to come :) Right now, I need to enjoy the blessing of being a wife.

Spring time in the town!

So, here I am maintaining my one post a week promise! This was a busy exhausting week at work with it being the most important week of the year. Plus, it was beautiful and warm outside so many hours were spent on the playground :) I taught my kiddos how to play wiffle ball which was one adventure in itself. Crazy how much they don't know at that age but they catch on fast. 25 days to go!

Thanks to Paula my allergies are somewhat under control since I have invested in a 24 hour allergy medicine. I can definitely tell the difference when I do and do not take it. Itchy eyes and continuous sneezing are no fun at all.

One thing I have found to love about spring in recent years is when the azalea bushes bloom! They are so pretty. I just wish the prettiness stuck around a little bit longer. Here is a pic of my favorite color azalea bush light pink!

Last night, Eric and I had dinner with my big brother Brent out on the Cerrito patio. Brent cooked steaks, asparagus, mushrooms, and mac and cheese. It was delicious! He is a pretty good cook. Then we played many rounds of Uno. It was a great surprise to what is normally an uneventful Friday night at our house.

Eric and I went to the semi-annual "Amnesty Dumpster Day" in our town this morning. We needed to "dump" a few large items that cannot be placed on the curb for regular pick-up. Guess who we saw while we were waiting patiently in the long line of fellow dumpster dumping folks? Grandaddy! So of course I scream, "Hey Eric look that's Grandaddy! I gotta go see him!" So I hop out of the truck and run down to his car. Turns out, Memo was in the car too (which was shocking since it was 11:45 in the morning). That was a cute little surprise to my day :) The park that we "dumped" our stuff is actually one that I have never been to. It has many amenities that most of our parks do not have. We want to take JoJo there soon. He loves to go on walks in new places!

Speaking of JoJo. He got his first professional haircut this week and of course he looks adorable. I bet he feels better too now that he will not be so hot with all that fur. He probably lost 2 pounds of hair :) I will post pics next time!

Reason Behind Encouraging Patience

My sister Paula has been telling me that I should start a blog. So, here I am at 10:45 on a Saturday night creating a blog. I thought for a few minutes on what I should name my blog. Many people just use their name or their family's name, but I wanted to be semi-creative. So, I came up with the title "Encouraging Patience" for a few reasons.

Reason #1: I am often told by my fellow teacher friends that I possess a special ability to encourage others (students and adults). Reason #2: It takes a lot of patience to do my job. Reason #3: The title can help me to encourage myself to be patient with my own life. I often jump ahead of myself and look to the future when I should be enjoying the present.

So, there does it. Blog post number one. No telling how frequent I will be at posting, but I will encourage myself to post at least once a week :)
